In March 2013 Ed walked through snow-drifts to TPot Studio in rural Perthshire and spent a day recording with Robin Wynn Evans . . .
The songs had been distilled during the previous year during travels in Scotland, Canada and France.
A fragment of family history and a visit to Alberta brought The Ballad of Lorraine and Frank to life.
Southern France inspired Le Pain, Du Vin.
Ed's hometown Dundee appears in a couple of songs:
On Magdalen Green is set in an old park beside the River Tay, while Ode to the Kingsway laments the loss of a double-roundabout on the UK's oldest ring-road. The "Kingsway song" has become famous in Dundee via word of mouth and local media. (bit.ly/Kingsway)
Alongside vocals and piano:
Guitar, Accordion, Uke, Mandolin, Percussion,
Bagpipes (Ruaraidh Proctor)
& Clarinet (Frances McGlashan),
& backing vocals (Graeme White).
